Overview

New Competent Authority for Plant Protection Products and Biocides in Malta - As per Malta Standards Authority and various Laws (Amendment) Act, 2007 published on 21st December 2007 and Legal Notice 33 of 2008, the competency for the authorization and regulation of pesticides in Malta has been transferred to the Malta Standards Authority (MSA) as from 1st February 2008.

The competent authority responsible for implementation and enforcement is the Malta Standards Authority (MSA). According to Bill 98 of 2007 Part III and the Pesticides Control Act the MSA is obliged to provide the authorisation and control in relation to dealing, advertising and use of any plant protection product and biocidal product or any other active substances intended for use in any plant protection and/or biocidal product.
