Overview The Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC (CPD) is one of the 'New Approach' Directives (European Community laws) to create a single European market by removing technical barriers to trade between Member States. Based on the new approach set out in the Council resolution of 7 May 1985, the Construction Products Directive laid down the measures required to remove barriers to the free movement of products by laying down essential requirements, mainly related to safety and health, that are applicable to construction works in general, rather than just construction products. It also detailed the procedures for obtaining evidence of product conformity.
