NATIONAL METROLOGY SERVICES - HOME
MSA-NMS conducts three primary functions;
- The establishment of the Legal Metrology Service to conduct services in the fields of verification of non automatic weighing instruments, verification of fuel dispensing systems, and the monitoring of pre-package control
- The establishment of the National Metrology Institute (NMI) to be the national focal point for the maintenance and dissemination of traceable measure.
- To establish the environment together with interested parties in initiating research activities.
The laboratories have been designed to be:
- the backbone for the legal metrology service
- to provide traceable measure in the fundamental units selected and
- to realise a financially sustainable recurrent cost base.
The labs have been set-up jointly by funds provided by the European Union and co-financing by the Maltese Government. The calibration service is focusing to take up a part of the calibration needs currently being sought outside Malta, and best use the position to provide calibration services to countries and regions in the area. |
